A Single Pump Booster System (VFD Based) is a water boosting system that uses one pump controlled by a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to maintain constant water pressure or flow based on system demand. These systems are common in buildings where water pressure from the main line is insufficient.

SINGLE PUMP BOOSTER (VFD BASED)

Origin: China

CleanTech Engineering Limited

Key Components:

  • Centrifugal Pump – Typically a multistage or end-suction type.

  • Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) – Controls pump speed to maintain constant pressure.

  • Pressure Transducer – Measures system pressure and sends feedback to the VFD.

  • Controller/PLC – Logic control to start/stop pump, monitor alarms, etc.

  • Pressure Tank (optional) – Helps reduce short cycling and pressure fluctuations.

  • Valves & Piping – Includes check valves, isolation valves, and flexible connectors.

How It Works:

  • Demand Detection: When there’s a drop in pressure due to water usage, the pressure transducer senses it.

  • Speed Adjustment: The VFD adjusts the motor speed to increase pump output to restore set pressure.

  • Energy Efficiency: As demand decreases, the VFD slows the pump down, reducing power consumption.

  • Shutdown: If no flow is detected (zero demand), the pump may shut off entirely until pressure drops again.

Advantages:

  • Energy Saving: Uses only the energy required for the current demand.

  • Pressure Stability: Maintains constant outlet pressure regardless of varying flow demands.

  • Pump Protection: Soft start/stop reduces mechanical wear.

  • Compact Design: Requires less space compared to multi-pump systems.

Common Applications:

  • Residential buildings

  • Commercial complexes

  • Hotels

  • Schools

  • Industrial processes with variable water demand
