Reverse Osmosis (RO) purification

Multi-stage filtration explained

Lan Shan systems do not rely on RO alone. They usually combine several filtration stages to protect the membrane and improve water quality step by step. While each model has its own design, a common 5 or 6 stage setup looks like this in practice.

First, a sediment filter removes sand, rust, and visible dirt from the water. This stage is important because it protects the other filters from clogging too fast. Next, one or more carbon filters remove chlorine, bad smell, and many organic chemicals that affect taste and can damage the RO membrane. Then the water reaches the RO membrane itself, which removes most dissolved salts and many heavy metals. After that, a post-carbon or “taste” filter polishes the water so it tastes clean and fresh.
